Rainbow 1/2 Birthday

I know this sounds so silly but it was a blast! There has been so much going on lately that we wanted to come up with a reason to have some fun!

Della’s half birthday was coming up and we thought this would be an amazing excuse to make some adorable DIY’s and eat cake!

I converted my bar cart into the cake table, it also gave me a location to style the cups and straws! Tisha’s Tips: Use your party supplies (cups, plates, napkins, etc) as decoration as well, this is a great way to decorate your set up all while saving some money!

We added a mini balloon garland made out of 5″ balloons to finish off the bar cart! I loosely tied the balloons together in pairs and then twisted two sets of pairs together to make a cluster of 4 balloons. I continued this with each color!

Simply wrap fishing line around each cluster to attach them, this will create the garland, and then tie to the bar cart!

These DIY Rainbow Earrings were a great accessory for the 1/2 birthday girl! They were very easy to make and she was so excited about them! Check out the tutorial!

We painted these DIY Rainbows for the wall, this tutorial is great to do with the littles. We taped them to the wall, the back of the chairs, and to the front of the table.

Check out this DIY rainbow cake topper we made for our cake! We wanted to go for a homemade relaxed style for our cake. I used one 6″ cake, cut it into two layers, and cut each layer in half. I stacked them with icing between each layer to create this “Half” birthday cake! We iced the outside of the cake with an offset spatula (reserving about 1 cup of icing) and put it in the fridge to set.

While the icing was setting in the fridge, divide the icing you reserved into 5 bowls. I colored the icing to match the rainbows we painted for the wall.

Place each color in a plastic zipper bag and cut the corner off to make a simple and quick piping bag.

Pipe your rainbows onto parchment paper and place into fridge to set.

Once rainbows are set, use a small dollop of icing as your glue and attach the rainbows to the cake!

This balloon rainbow was so easy to make! I simply blew up twisting balloons, knotted them, glued them together with glue dots, and then attached them to a piece of poster board with glue dots as well. I attached the rainbow arrangement to the wall with mini adhesive strips. Lastly, I made some mini white balloon clusters and attached them with glue dots to create clouds for our rainbow.

Little Miss Moffat Cookies is a small business based out of CA! The owner, Laura is so incredibly talented! She made the beautiful sugar cookies for our celebration. The best part is, she shipped them to us and included a cookie repair kit in case any of the cookies broke during transit, how thoughtful is that? Check her out, she is amazing and can do a wide variety of themes!

I hope this party inspired you to have some fun and spread some joy with your family during these crazy times!

Happy Crafting!
