Materials:
- Thick craft foam
- Scissors
- Streamers or tissue paper
- Hot glue
- Sprinkles
I drew out my template and cut it out.
I traced the temple onto the foam and cut out 3 figures.
I cut a section out of the middle of one of the donkeys.
Place the donkey with the cut out sandwiched between the two solid figures
Now you are ready to make your piñata streamers.
I started by cutting each color 10” long. And then I cut them in 1/2” wide strips.
A rotary cutter make this quick and easy.
Now fold the 1/2” wide strip in half to make a 1/4” wide strip.
I wanted to make sure the white base wouldn’t show thru the fringe so I decided to cover it first with stripes before I added fringe. Start with a dot of hot glue and begin attaching your streamers one row at a time.
Once your piñata is completely covered start cutting your fringe. I layered several stripes before cutting to make it go faster
Next time I will fold the strip in half to make 1/4” stripes just like I did on the first layer and then cut the fringe.
Add the fringe following the same pattern as the last step.
Once it’s completely covered you are ready to fill! I added nonpariel sprinkles. To keep them from falling out I rolled up a leftover 1/2”x10” strand of streamer leaving a 1” tail. I pushed the roll up into the piñata leaving the tail out so it would be easy to release the sprinkles onto the cake.
I also inserted a toothpick to the bottom of each foot to make sure it was secure on top of the cake.
