Tropical 1st Birthday

My co-worker Becca is the owner of Dogwood Rentals in Las Vegas by day and an amazingly talented acrobat in Le Reve the Dream by night! Her little one, Romy is turning one!

She decided on a tropical theme, she gave me some inspiration photos of these beautiful balloon clusters. I was instantly inspired, the creative juices were pumping! I immediately went onto to amazon to see what I could find to match this photo, to my surprise….I found EVERYTHING! I had everything purchased and on it’s way within 10 minutes!

I have a stock of these plastic table clothes from the dollar store that I’ve pretty much mentioned in every post this far. So… yep…. you guessed it, I’m using them again! I cut them down into 1/2″ strips and I used them for the fringe that will be hanging from the center of the cluster. I purchased dream catcher hoops and added the fringe to them for my base. I also cut strips from a gold fringe curtain. I added the balloons to the hoop, and then added the details with glue dots and packing tape. Super easy, but a little time consuming.

Balloon cluster base- Dream catcher hoops, plastic tablecloths, and gold fringe curtain.

I asked Becca to collect 12 photos of Romy so I could showcase photos of her over the last year in a beautiful hanging photo hoop. You will never believe how easy this project was to make! Wreath hoop, ribbon, photos, floral/greenery, glue dots, done.

I found these amazing artificial monstera leaves! I added the leaves to fishing line and hung them behind the custom happy birthday banner. I added a glue dot to a few of the back of the leaves and attached them to the cabana. This prevented them rotating while they were hanging. This filled the space beautifully and it was easy and affordable, two objectives I am all about.

I was able to make all the decorations the day before the party, which made the day of easy and stress free. Tisha’s Tip- always bring extra supplies; fishing line, glue dots, hanging hooks, and a hot glue gun if you are setting up in a space you aren’t familiar with. It makes coming up with a solution much easier if you run into an issues hanging decorations.

Having everything assembled ahead of time made the set up go smooth and quickly. We were able to get everything set up and hung in about 45 minutes, this was a record for me!

Try making these beautiful decorations for your next pool party, you will definitely impress your guests! Happy Crafting!
