Materials:
- Tissue Paper
- Thread
- Scissors
- Rotary Cutter
- Ruler
I bought these packs of tissue paper at the dollar store. When I opened them up, some were square and some were more rectangular.
Open them up and layer two sheets of each color you’d like to use. I used a total of 9 sheets. (3 sheets of the last color)
Once you have them layered you need to square them up.
Take the bottom left corner and fold it up towards the top right corner lining the top edges up.
Cut along the edge to the right side. Unfold your triangle and you will be left with a square.
Once you have them stacked, start accordion folding them in about 1 1/2 in wide folds. Until you reach the end.
Leave a tail of thread and then start to wrap the thread around the center of the folds several times.
Leave another tail and then trim. Knot the two ends together. I prefer to keep the thread quite long so you can use it to hang them.
I cut rounded ends, but you could do a point or “V” as well. It depends on what you want your end result to look like, play with it and see what option you like best.
Fan open each side of the pom pom and start fluffing one layer at a time, alternating sides until you have a the perfect pom pom!
I made these flat on one side so I could attach them easier to a back drop.
Tisha’s Tip: If you want them to be round- layer two sheets of each color, once you have all the colors layer, layer two more of each color in the reverse order to the color pattern is the same on both sides. You can also use all one color and then you don’t have to worry about a pattern.
