Material:
- 6 plastic tablecloths in 5 colors of your choice (two of them will be the same color)
- Packing tape
- Scissors
Start by opening up the tablecloth, leaving it folded in half length wise. Cut along the folded lines that are the length of the tablecloth. This should make them into around 1.5′ wide strips.
Cut all of your tablecloths except for one, leave one whole, this will be your base. Be sure you buy an extra tablecloth in whichever color you choose your base to be.
Tape packing tape to your table, sticky side up. Start with your first color using two layers of tablecloth strips, secure the corner at the start of the tape and begin making small folds or “pleats”. Don’t worry if they aren’t perfect, once you are finished pleating, you’ll do another layer of tape on top of the pleats to secure them in place.
Continue this step until you have all five colors complete. Begin taping the strips onto the base (full size rectangular tablecloth). I taped the first strip 6″ from the bottom. I continued this with each strip every six inches until I reached the top.
Once you reach the top, you’ll need to conceal the tape edge. Take the top strip and place it upside down (this was the red strip for me) . Tape the red ruffle packing tape edge above the pink ruffle packing tape edge.
Flip the red ruffle over so it’s laying on top of the pink. You will have a little bit of a gap between the base and the folded edge of the red strip. I made little packing tape donuts and secured the edge so it would lay flat. That’s it!
