DIY Headband

I made this entire headband from scraps I had in my craft room!

Materials:

  • Elastic
  • Decorative Ruffle Trim
  • Rossette Trim
  • Scissors
  • Hot glue gun
  • Felt
  • Needle
  • Thread

Start by cutting your elastic to fit the child’s head. I subtracted about 1.5in from the circumference measurement and it fit perfectly, not too tight.

Next over lap the edges a 1/2in and hot glue in place. Set the elastic aside.

I had some of this trim left over from an old project. I love the movement and texture it has!

I quickly ran a loose running stitch through the center of the trim. You can see the stitching to the right of the rhinestones.

Gently start pulling the needle side holding the tail of thread to prevent yourself from pulling it out.

Knot the tails of the thread and you will have a perfect ruffle pinwheel!

I also had this sweet rosette trim I bought for Della’s unicorn party years ago. Simply cut out around one of the rosettes

It will look like this:

Hot glue it to the center of the ruffle pinwheel.

*not picture- I ended up removing the rhinestones off the pinwheel before adding the rosette.

Grab the elastic headband and add glue to the seam you previously glued. Attach the seam to the back of the ruffle rosette.

Cut out a circle from your scrap felt and attach to the back of the rosette to sandwich the elastic headband in place.

Done!

I can’t wait to see what creative projects this will inspire you to make from what is scrap in your house!
