DIY Birthday Candle

Materials:

  • Number candle
  • Mod Podge or White School Glue
  • Glitter
  • Sprinkles
  • Painters tape

Tape the bottom part of the candle

This protects the part that will be touching the cake.

Paint the entire candle with slightly diluted mod podge or white school glue. I did two thin layers waiting for the first layer to get tacky before applying a thin second coat. Wait a minute or two for it to get tacky and then pour the glitter over the entire candle.

Allow the candle dry completely and then paint a layer of mod podge over the glitter to lock it in and to prevent it from falling onto the icing of the cake.

Once the top layer was dry and the glitter was sealed in, I used my trusty hot glue gun and filled the center of the number with a layer of hot glue.

Quickly ad the sprinkles to the hot glue, wait a few seconds for the glue to start to set, and then very gently press the sprinkles into the glue. You don’t want the glue to ooze out the sides or through the sprinkles. You just want enough pressure to set the sprinkles in the hot glue.

And there you have your beautiful custom birthday candle!
