- Fishing Line
- Glue Dots
This is basically 4 balloon columns tied together to great the entire flag. It’s must easier than it looks!
Start by making pairs of the blue balloons. Make 2 pairs (2 blue balloons knotted together) Take both pairs and stack them and twist the balloons to create a cluster or a “quad”. Make two quads (8 balloons total)
Stack the quads on top of each other and tie together with fishing line.
Continue this technique with the white and then the red. Make two columns that look like this one:
Once you have two columns made, tie the two columns together with your fishing line. Tie by wrapping the fishing line in a figure 8 pattern starting at the top and working your way down.
Now you’re going to make two more columns. This time with red on top instead of the blue.
Tie these columns to your flag.
I ended up adding another row of white to the bottom. To do this I just added a quad of white balloons at a time to the base of each column.
Once I had all my columns attached I added my 5″ balloons with glue dots to fill in any holes and to create my “white stars” on the blue balloons.
Make loops with your fishing line and tie to the back of your flag. Hang on a nail or command hooks.
Try not to be intimidated by this project, it looks a little intense but it’s must easier than it looks. Once it’s broken down into these steps it’s less overwhelming! I hope you give this a shot, please tag us in your photos so we can see all your hard work!
Happy Crafting!
