These balloon clusters look a little intimating to make at a glance, but once you break it down, they aren’t too bad!
I had 1′ wide strips of tablecloth left over from another party, I folded the strip in half and then in half again, and then one more time. Using my rotary cutter and ruler I began cutting 1/2″ strips.
Once you unfold the strip, you will want to cut it in half.
Fold the strip in half and place the folded edge under the hoop
String the ends through the loop and pull through to create a knot. Continue this step until you make it all the way around the hoop.
I cut strips of fringe off the gold curtain and added them to the hoop as well. Once your fringe is complete, add three pieces of fishing line, attach them using the same technique. Knot the three strands together to create a loop. You will use this to hang your cluster. It’s easiest to hang it now before you start attaching balloons.
Start blowing up your balloons, blow one up to capacity and the second one about halfway. Tie the first one and before you knot the second balloon, incorporate the first balloons tail into the knot. Repeat this step to make 4 pairs.
Slide the smaller balloon through the gold hoop and twist the two balloons together to secure.
Continue this with all 4 pairs.
Make 2 additional pairs out of an accent color and the same blush the other pairs were made of.
Attach these clusters to the hoop and other balloons using fishing line. Simply connect with using a figure 8 pattern.
Now fill any holes with individual smaller balloons, attach them where ever you need them with large glue dots. I also attached the leaves with glue dots.
Using packing tape, tape the strings on the honeycomb balls between the balloons and that’s it! I made two clusters that were this size and one that was about twice the size.
For the large cluster I taped honeycomb garland on the bottom of the balloons at different lengths. I bent the stem of the orchid cluster and gently placed the stem between balloons to secure it in place.
I assembled these balloon clusters the day before the party, this made for an easy, stress free set-up!
They were beautiful statement pieces for the cabana! I hope you try to make these beauties for your next event!
